――道重さんから見て、田中さんは10年間でどのように変わりましたか？ 

道重　そうだなぁ･･････。入ったばかりの頃は、たまに弱い部分を見せていたんですよ。飯田（圭織）さんが卒業するときも号泣していたし。まぁ基本的には強がりなんですけどね。その飯田さんにも反抗したりしていたし。「嘘だろ！？」って思いましたけどね（笑）。でも入ったばかりだから弱い部分も当然あるし、落ち込んだり、へこんだりもしていたんです。それがですね、（高橋）愛ちゃんがリーダーになったくらいからは、まったく弱音を見せなくなったんですよ。常に強い状態で。当時はれいなも「強くなったな」って思っていたんですけど、今思えばそうじゃなかったんですね。弱い部分を見せる相手がいなかっただけだと思うんです。そして、れいなの弱い部分を引き出してあげられるメンバーもいなかった。 

――田中さんには「孤高の天才」というイメージがありますよね。ストイックだし、プロフェッショナルだし。 

道重　たしかに。でも、それも変わったんですよ？愛ちゃんのリーダー時代、れいなの弱い部分というか、「本当はもっとみんなと馴染みたいのに」っていう気持ちを誰も理解してあげられなかった。引き出してあげれなかった。なのに、それを10期が･･････特に佐藤（優樹）が変えてくれたんですよ。 


— How do you think Tanaka-san has changed in the last decade?

Sayu: Well, let me see. Reina used to show her weakness occasionally in our early days. Actually she bursted into tears at Iida-san’s graduation ceremony. Since Reina tried to hide her weakness basically and defied against Iida-san often, I was surprised to see her crying there. It’s reasonable for a newbie to be weak and get depressed easily. But since Ai-chan became the leader, Reina has never showed her weakness at all somehow. As Reina seemed almost invincible at all times, I thought she had become tougher. But as I look back now, I was probably wrong. Reina just didn’t have anyone she could show her weakness to, and no member could let her clean out her closet.

— People would see Tanaka-san as “the lone genius”, wouldn’t they? Like she’s stoic and professional.

Sayu: Indeed. But Reina has changed these days. During the reign of Ai-chan, nobody understood how much Reina wanted to get along with others, nobody could bring her hidden wish out. However the 10th gen, mainly Sato has changed it at last.
